Where Medicine Meets Mindfulness

Hi, I'm Punam, a medical oncologist, certified mindfulness meditation teacher, and a mother of four. With over a decade of experience treating cancer patients, I've dedicated my career to bridging the gap between conventional medicine and mindfulness practices, I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact that mindfulness can have on healing and wellbeing. With both an MD and a Master's in Epidemiology, my approach is deeply rooted in medical science and evidence-based practices.

My Mindfulness Journey

My personal mindfulness journey began in 2012 when I took my first meditation course—an experience that fundamentally transformed my life. What started as a personal practice evolved into a passionate calling to share these powerful techniques with others. Today, as a certified mindfulness meditation teacher, I bridge the gap between conventional medicine and contemplative practices.

Working with Patients

Throughout my oncology career, I've consistently observed how mindfulness practices can support cancer patients through their treatment journey. The scientific evidence supporting mindfulness for cancer patients is compelling—from reducing anxiety and depression to improving sleep quality and immune function.

After years of recommending mindfulness to my patients who often struggled to find accessible resources, I made the decision to become certified as a mindfulness teacher. Now, I collaborate closely with my hospital to conduct research on the benefits of mindfulness for cancer patients and develop specialized mindfulness programs tailored to their unique needs.

Supporting Parents and Children

My mindfulness teaching extends beyond clinical settings. I've had the privilege of leading mindfulness retreats specifically designed for mothers and teaching mindfulness techniques to children. These experiences have shown me how these practices can strengthen family bonds and help young minds develop emotional resilience from an early age.

My Approch

I believe mindfulness is not just a practice but a way of living. My teaching combines rigorous medical knowledge with compassionate presence, making these ancient techniques accessible and relevant to modern life challenges. Whether working with cancer patients navigating treatment, parents seeking balance, or children learning emotional regulation, my approach emphasizes practical skills that create lasting positive change.

Looking Forward

As I continue my work in oncology, I'm excited to expand the reach of mindfulness through evidence-based programs for patients, specialized retreats for parents, and age-appropriate mindfulness education for children. I invite you to join me on this journey of discovery, healing, and transformation.
